Who looks after your information
Rebecca J Page, a sole trader (self-employed), is responsible for your personal information (the “controller”, in data protection terms). Our address is Office 7283, 58 Peregrine Road, Hainault, Ilford, Essex, IG6 3SZ.
For anything about your information, email info@rebeccajpage.com or use the contact form.
What we collect
- Your details: your name and email address, when you sign up for something free, buy, or contact us.
- Your account: your email, a securely scrambled version of your password (we can’t read it), what you’ve bought and your progress through your courses.
- Your purchases: what you bought, when, what you paid and your billing country. Your card details go straight to Stripe and never reach us.
- Quiz answers: your answers and result if you take one of our quizzes.
- Messages: what you send us by email, the contact form or Instagram.
- Your email choices: whether you’ve agreed to marketing emails, and whether you open them.
- How you use the site: your IP address, device and browser, and the pages you visit. Some of this comes from cookies, and only with your agreement where the law requires it. See our cookie policy.
We don’t knowingly collect information about anyone under 18.
Why we use it
The law asks us to say why we use your information, and on what legal basis.
- To give you what you asked for (to perform our contract with you): creating your account, taking payment, giving you access to what you’ve bought, sending receipts and sign-in emails, and answering your questions.
- With your consent: sending you marketing emails, setting non-essential cookies, and measuring our Instagram and Facebook adverts. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
- For our legitimate interests, where these don’t override your rights: keeping the site and your account secure, preventing fraud, fixing problems and understanding how the site is used so we can improve it.
- Because the law requires it: keeping records of sales for tax.
Emails from us
We send two kinds of email. Service emails are about your account and purchases: receipts, sign-in links and important changes. You’ll get these while you have an account.
Marketing emails share new teaching, offers and news. We only send these if you’ve said yes. Every one has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to stop at any time.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We use a small number of trusted services to run the site. They handle your information only on our instructions and must keep it safe.
- Stripe takes payments and helps prevent fraud.
- Resend sends service emails, such as receipts and sign-in links.
- Loops sends marketing emails, only to people who have agreed to receive them.
- ManyChat runs automatic replies to messages on our Instagram account.
- Meta (Instagram and Facebook) measures our adverts through the Meta pixel, only if you accept marketing cookies, and handles messages you send us on Instagram.
- Amazon Web Services hosts the site and stores our data and files.
We may also share information with professional advisers such as our accountant, or when the law requires it.
Information sent outside the UK
Some of these services are based in, or use servers in, the United States and elsewhere. When your information leaves the UK, we make sure it’s protected to UK standards, for example through the UK–US data bridge or contract terms approved by the UK government.
How long we keep it
- Your account and library: for as long as your account is open.
- Records of purchases: 6 years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as UK tax law requires.
- Marketing email details: until you unsubscribe, then only a note that you’ve asked not to hear from us.
- Messages and quiz answers: up to 2 years after we last hear from you.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you,
- ask us to correct anything that’s wrong,
- ask us to delete your information,
- ask us to limit how we use it, or object to how we use it,
- ask for your information in a form you can take elsewhere, and
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it.
To use any of these rights, email info@rebeccajpage.com. It’s free, and we’ll reply within one month. Some rights have limits: for example, we must keep sales records for tax even if you ask us to delete your account.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Keeping it safe
Your information travels over encrypted connections and is stored with access limited to the people who need it. Passwords are stored scrambled so that nobody, including us, can read them.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page if anything changes, and tell you by email if the change is important.
